About Derick
I completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. It was a five-year program with mandatory co-op terms. During my co-op terms, I worked at such places as Veterans Affairs Canada, HealthLink Technologies, Nygard International, and Nortel Networks. The work I did was mainly software programming. One term, I had the opportunity to create a support call tracking program in Java. A support call tracking program is a type of help desk software. It basically allows support representatives to record calls, note down important details, and track the resolution of programs. This software was created from scratch and another co-op student helped out part-time. It was a good learning experience as it was my first time programming in a workplace setting.
